Meditation Group
We take our shoes off when we enter the building.
We practice Tibetan Buddhist Meditation. This is an eyes open practice. We have cushions and meditation benches available and some prefer a chair. The focus of the meditation is the breath or watching thoughts without investing in them. The aim is to empty the mind.
We read a book about meditation, a few pages at a time each week, and we spend the first few minutes of our hour together discussing it. The meditation portion is divided into 15 minutes seated, followed by 10 minutes walking meditation and then a final 15 minutes of seated meditation. The focus during the walking meditation is on the bottom of the feet.
Those new to Buddhist meditation are given instructions to help get started. We also welcome those who are seasoned meditators.
